Muecke Lounge Chair
Muecke Lounge Chair
Proof Living is an authorised dealer. Purchasing through parallel importers can void warranty, installation and after-sales support.
Crafted from cylindrical dowels, the Muecke Lounge Chair and Ottoman highlight the organic beauty of wood through a rhythmic interplay of clean, repeating forms. Available in three finishes, with your choice of fabric or leather upholstery.
FEATURES
Jonathan Muecke views furniture and sculpture from the same creative perspective, aiming to reveal and express the innate logic of his materials. The Muecke Lounge Chair and Ottoman grew out of his interest in honoring every aspect of wood—including the end grain. By shaping the wood into rounded dowels and developing a joinery technique that connects them at their intersections, he achieves that vision. “You can understand the piece of wood,” he explains. “It isn’t concealed—it’s there to be recognized and appreciated.”

Meet The Designer
Florence Knoll
While a student at the Kingswood School on the campus of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Florence Knoll Bassett (née Schust) became a protegée of Eero Saarinen. She studied architecture at Cranbrook, the Architectural Association in London and the Armour Institute (Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago). She worked briefly for Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and Wallace K. Harrison. In 1946, she became a full business and design partner and married Hans Knoll, after which they formed Knoll Associates. She was at once a champion of world-class architects and designers and an exceptional architect in her own right. As a pioneer of the Knoll Planning Unit, she revolutionised interior space planning. Her belief in 'total design' – embracing architecture, manufacturing, interior design, textiles, graphics, advertising and presentation – and her application of design principles in solving space problems were radical departures from the standard practice in the 1950s, but were quickly adopted and remain widely used today. For her extraordinary contributions to architecture and design, Florence Knoll was accorded the National Endowment for the Arts' prestigious 2002 National Medal of Arts.
Know the brand
Knoll
An item becomes classic when it changes the history of its time and continues to be modern at any time. Knoll’s history came from the birth of the Modern Movement and its protagonists; the idea of innovation combined with tradition; and the capacity to create highly versatile pieces that meet personal tastes and age trends.
Knoll stands at the forefront of mid-century modern and modern classic design, shaping interiors with pieces that feel both iconic and enduring. From the sculptural Barcelona Chair to the innovative Wassily Chair, and modern staples like the Saarinen Tulip Table and Florence Knoll Sofa, each design reflects the brand’s commitment to clarity, proportion and lasting craftsmanship. For those who appreciate timeless furniture with a strong architectural presence, Knoll remains one of the most influential names in modern design.
